welcome to hefner designs

Welcome to Hefner Designs. As my skill set evolves, so does my list of services. My main focus has always been websites. Websites are essential for your credibility in today's market and i specialize in capturing your vision for your business and putting it out on the world wide web. I also specialize in graphic design. Anything you need in print (be it on screen or on paper), I can create for you digitally. Whether it be logos, marketing materials, invitations to your child's birthday party, a newsletter for your non-profit, or eye catching backgrounds for powerpoints, I can help bring your vision to life. Photography has always been a dream, also nicknamed the paparazzi, and for anything professional I highly suggest kimberlybrookephotographic.com, however, I'm starting to navigate the waters with my Canon and am slowly getting the hang of it. As the a/v tech at the City of League City I have also been thrown into video editing (willingly) and have come a long way in a short period. The best part is, all of this works together. We can start with your marketing materials, create a promotional video that includes your graphics and photos of your product, and place it all on your new cutting edge website. Consider me a one stop shop for anything you need to get your business off the ground. Look around, find work that relates to your needs, see what you think, and give me a call!

Why did I set my site up as a blog? Well... I work. A lot. And given the vast spectrum of services I provide it really seemed like the best format to encompass all of the opportunities in a site that you could easily navigate. Bare with me as I get this new site developed and check back often. Lots to come!

A Birthday Fit For A Princess

October 5, 2010

You know it’s never easy being married to a public servant, especially when they serve in multiple places. BUT, the rewards are SO much greater than the drawbacks. We are SO blessed to have both our Army family and our Fire family. They mean the world to me, as David’s wife, and Summer & Shel just adore them all. Bug’s actual birthday fell on one of David’s shift at the station. He’s at 25’s in Houston. They made sure she had the “best birthday EVERRRRR” as she later told me. Granted this is probably the first one she remembers. I only spent about five minutes throwing this together but it came out pretty cute so I had to share. Happy Birthday Princess!

taking birthday’s to a new level

September 14, 2010

apparently there is a big market out there for taking birthday parties to some crazy new extreme. i hope “my sweet 16″ or whatever that mtv show isn’t to blame but it’s definitely here. it can get overwhelming looking at the blogs that are out there. so my little one is turning three ::tear tear sniff sniff:: this october and i’m making a chandelier for above her cake out of hand cut and sewn felt circles, dipping oreos in white chocolate, and have bought more bubbles than i knew existed for “Bug’s Bubble Bash”. but i didn’t stop there. this took me all of twenty minutes and i think i may be on to something because i loved putting the address on the invitations with the rsvp. need help planning a party or want something similar for yours? i’m your girl!

and a quick photo sesh at a family get together gave me these gorgeous pics to use! you don’t always have to plan a session to get great shots! we just happened to have bubbles and of course there was music. so blessed to have such a beautiful bug.

so i seem to always have too many irons in the fire. this business is no exception. and sadly i was NOT doing a good job keeping up with baypoint’s site. so after doing a test run on a city site that i’ll blog about soon i decided to try the same thing with theirs. i found a custom template for iweb and built baypoint’s site using it. i DO NOT suggest it for 90% of projects because customizing it is next to impossible. essentially you have to find a template that you are 100% happy with and work with it. but in this case i did and now the site is SUPER simple to maintain. adding pics and vids literally takes dragging and dropping the album from my iphoto to iweb and hitting the publish button. given my role this makes my life MUCH easier and the site much more dynamic and useful for our members. so check it out. let me know what you think. would you have guessed it was an iweb site? i’m curious.

Happy Belated 4th!

July 5, 2010

What a blessing it is to live in the land of the free! It comes at a cost and we, as a family, truly understand and appreciate what we have. We had a little fun with sparklers last night! It took a few tries but I eventually got it. Hope everyone enjoyed the holiday and remembered to thank those who make our freedom a reality that most don’t have.

More from the 311 campaign. This is what you call taking a good thing and improving on it. Civic Plus always does a FANTASTIC job at all that they do. I simply took the framework of their iPhone app vid and played it up a bit. They loved it, which makes it ALL worth while. Hopefully the citizens will too.

Are you ready?

I’ve always been slightly fascinated with weather, I come by it naturally. But I stumbled across this great preparedness site that a county in California uses to help their residents stay better prepared for earthquakes and what not. Ready.gov is of course great, but there is a LOT of information out there about disaster preparedness and there’s not really a central location for the wealth of information. SO, I figured why not be the first in our area to do something outside of linking on through to ready.gov and pull information from several different places. So I did. This tool will cost the city $10/annually to maintain. Crazy right? It’s easily updated (I don’t have to be involved) and I’m hoping it’s super helpful. Everyone you see in this video works for the city and were great sports. This was not rehearsed. They had no idea why I asked them to come up and they didn’t know what I was going to ask them until I hit record. That’s truly the best way to do it. This was shot, edited, and released to the press within an 8 hour work day. Wow. I’m tired just thinking about it. Here it is, are you ready? introducing readylc.com…

3 1 what?

May 23, 2010

this is a great example of a marketing roll out. league city is always on the leading edge of technology and this is one of many examples. now you can use our online tracking system, download the iphone app, and soon you will be able to submit on facebook any and all requests for the city. this is the first video in  a series of four. putting a fun twist on what could likely be a boring video is what makes me love my job.

life is a highway

Baypoint is my home. My refuge. My church. I do some volunteering there and this is a product of that. On this particular day I would take event pics, run inside and take video of the stage, and run back out and do family portraits, AND then run outside and get more video and pics! Needless to say I was worn out after this, but the pay off is so worth it. click here to see more pics…
